Villa AIX
When O2 Treehouse was contacted by Villa AIX, a vineyard hospitality / accommodation in Sonoma County, they were interested in adding a treehouse overlooking their vineyard for the enjoyment of their guests. The existing architecture had subtle French architectural cues and it was the desire of the project manager that the treehouse continue to preserve this theme.
We integrated the existing vernacular and took it one step further by doing a deep dive into the various styles and history of French architecture. We finally arrived at the French Normandy style, which is typical of villas in the north part of France. A color pallet was selected to best match the hues and tones of the environment around the treehouse throughout the seasons. We toured many architectural salvage shops to select key artifacts to integrate into the design, purchasing everything from corbels, to the late 18th century Thai carving that finally was utilized as the ridge beam of the structure on its interior.
