“First, you’re never too old for playtime. In 2018, I had a vision to build a treehouse in a Redwood ‘fairy ring’ on our property — and I met Dustin to walk through the property and find the exact right spot for the treehouse. “Dustin helped us build a dramatic tree deck, almost 20 feet off the ground overlooking Lake Michigan, suspended from cables. Using my photos and rough measurements, and coordinating from a couple of thousand miles away, he designed and built innovative hardware and brought it with him on site. In two action-packed days, Dustin built the necessary critical support infrastructure, and I then worked with a local carpenter to finish the project. The latter was something almost anyone could do. Six years later, our trees remain healthy and our tree deck is in fine shape, having weathered numerous Lake Michigan gales without ill effect. We continue to enjoy dinners on our tree deck, and just hanging out with friends and family. This tree deck replaced an older version, four feet lower which I had built with simple 2x4’s and lag bolts, which was no longer safe. Dustin’s version was an incredible improvement.

While O2 Treehouse specializes in tree houses, I am a huge fan of tree decks and would recommend it as an alternative. When we’re up on our deck, underneath a mixed canopy of maple, locust and popple leaves, it feels like a true outdoor room. It’s simply magical!””
